Sooner or later, you think you have prepared all of the different flavors for your holiday table. Every year I like to add one new idea to our holiday meal, and this year it is pomegranate molasses! The first thing to remember is that pomegranates make everything more festive. The second thing to consider is the gorgeous ruby red color! Not to mention the tart delicious taste that elevates every recipe.

It is so easy to prepare pomegranate molasses, and I have no idea why I have not stumbled on them before. You may also store them in the refrigerator for the entire holiday season. If they last that long! To speed up the process, I decided to use pure pom juice to make my homemade molasses, so there is really no excuse to not give this recipe a try! The secret to rich syrupy molasses is to cook them low and slow with just an occasional stir. Pour a few ingredients into a sauce pan and simmer away for an hour or so to create a thick syrupy sensation. What could be easier than that?

A shiny, syrupy, and delicious sauce to drizzle over your holiday recipes.
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 75 minutes
- Total Time: 1 1/2 hours
- Yield: about 1 cup of pomegranate molasses 1x

Ingredients
3 cups of POM juice
1/2 cup sugar
zest from a lemon
juice from 1/2 lemon
3 TB Grand Marnier ( I like to use the raspberry peach flavor )
Instructions
Pour all of the ingredients in a medium sized saucepan and stir until combined
Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to a very low simmer
Continue to simmer for 75 minutes, stirring every 12-15 minutes
When the sauce is coated on the back of the spoon, it is done
Cool and store covered in the refrigerator
When you want to use the sauce, remove from the refrigerator and bring to room temperature
Using a spoon, drizzle over desired recipe
